Not only did my butternut squash pie win a blue ribbon in the “Miscellaneous” pie category, it won the rosette for BEST IN SHOW for pies. The apple pie didn’t win anything, but that’s okay. The rosette makes up for it!
My family’s fruit display also won BEST IN SHOW! We got a rosette and trophy! Yay!

I noticed that your pie was almost gone–the judges must have loved it! BEST IN SHOW is awesome! You are an incredible baker (probably due to years of experience) and the judges tasted that! Grandma Rose would be so proud that you won with her recipe! Butternut squash makes the best pie ever!

YUM-o! I still haven’t tried this recipe, I’m ashamed to admit. I’ve been dodging the pumpkin puree in the freezer. The toddler size banana squash lingering around the front yard are a bit harder to ignore. Might have to get my Abbie on this weekend.
Well, I didn’t see that one coming! Congratulations– in honor of your blue ribbons I think I will have to bake a couple of those pies again. Now when I serve them to company I can claim them as “Abbie’s Best In Show Pies”!

Awesome. I haven’t seen a butternut at the Farmer’s Market around here yet this year, but when I do I plan to make this — I’ll have to share this recipe with my Grandmother as well — back in the day she had some prize winning recipes and she loves squash
