First Summer Salad

salad and shortcake 003

We had our first salad from our garden last night.  I planted tons of lettuce back in March, with hopes of using the thinnings for early summer salads.  So far this year, we’ve eaten herbs, spinach, and now this lettuce out of the garden.  Are you picking anything yet?

  1. Currently picking onions, tomatoes, green beans, lambs-quarter, kale, collard greens, swiss chard, basil, and sage. Lots of salads in my future too… :)

  2. Something has eaten my lettuce. I am bereft. So I have no salad from my own garden.

But my strawberries are very nearly ripe. I think they’ll soothe my wounded heart.

  3. We are eating broccoli, kale, spinach, and lettuce so far. Peas are blooming!!

  4. Up by the canadian border, I’m eating baby spinach, radishes, and snow peas.
